Hi Jason,

Unfortunately we are now fully booked for that date. We do however have some courses coming up in the near future so watch this space! Once we find out the dates for the new courses we will post them on the site.

Many Thanks,

Hill Holt Wood.

Hello and thank you for your comment. The immediate plan is to heat the hall with a split-log boiler the logs for which we will source locally. The main problem with coppiced material is that it has a high moisture content which would require an extra (drying) stage. In the long term we hope to use a variety of materials, including coppiced wood to provide heat/energy.

Hope that this has answered your questions.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for that message, it's nice to hear from you. I'm really glad you enjoyed your time at the wood, it makes us realise we are doing a good job and the learners appreciate what we're doing. Please come back and visit us any time you time, we're open 7 days a week.

I've printed your message off so all the other rangers can see it.

Take care, thanks again

Hi there I stumbled across Nigel’s interview video for channel 4 tonight by pure mistake and it made me remember all the good times I had at hill holt wood and it gave me the urge to just drop a quick note of thanks to all the people that made hill holt wood what it was for me from Vicky and holly fighting to make the classroom enjoyable to rob bob Alan Nigel Richard and all the other rangers that made the outdoor stuff even the litter picking enjoyable .

I hope to one day(when time and circumstance allows)to be able to volunteer some of the skills I have gained since leaving hill holt wood to you guys in an attempt to give something back even though it will never amount to what I gained whilst there.

Without coming through those green green gates down the former bumpy dirt track I don’t know how my life would have turned out but its become all the better for having been to hill holt wood.

Again thank you all from the bottom of my hart

Hi,

Initially the woodland community Hall will be heated by a wood burner using thinnings, coppiced materials and soft wood logs. This will be stored in the form of hot water and released into the underfloor heating system. Eventually this system may be replaced by a CHP boiler system creating electricity and heat and running on pellets.

Thanks for your interest

Hello,
Is the new community hall heated? I guess you're ideally placed to use woodchip or coppiced fuels?
Best wishes,
Al
