In The Community

Hill Holt In The Community (HHITC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hill Holt Wood.

Operating as the trading and contracting arm of the Charity the team have forged excellent links with the local community. Both via the ongoing contracts it holds with North Kesteven District Council and on private jobs carried out for many of the parish councils, schools both primary and secondary, and private residents within Lincolnshire and further afield.

The In The Community ranger team are the facilitators for NKDC’s Watch NK scheme. Providing two rangers a day operating within the North Kesteven area maintaining the Stepping Out footpath network and keeping the roads and lay-bys outside of the 30 mph zones free of litter. Outside of the Watch NK scheme they also provide one ranger a day to provide gardening work throughout the district for vulnerable council tenants. Each of the rangers is accompanied by a work experience team taken from the Foundation Learners on programme with the charity.

A partnership set up a few years ago between HHITC, NKDC and Local Schools, has lead to the formation of a Junior Ranger Service, in which a In The Community Ranger provides one morning or afternoon a week conservation work with pupils from the involved school to maintain their local green spaces. The successes of the first scheme set up with Branston School, has led to a second scheme which started in Billinghay, and also North Kesteven School.
