June 3rd again!
Wow two in one day!
In answer to comment by Thomas – we have used nothing but a laundrette for 14 years now. I would add to the efficiency issue that is also about quality of life for the family. Collecting your washing and ironing once a week gives us more time to do what we want to do. We just have to have a few extra items of clothing to allow us to only go once a week. Additionally we help to create or maintain low skill jobs for which there is a desperate shortage. I am involved with a plan for an eco-village and we are looking at how we could prevent anyone having a washing machine with a daily collect/wash/iron service that would support a number of jobs.
I am now in Scotland at New Lanrk, home of Robert Owen, for a conference on social capital. I shall be speaking about Hill Holts contribution to community resilience. Resilience in times of climate and financial instability. My key word will be Trust which is sadly missing in society now.
